Ticketyboo ebook title: Ticketyboo: An Illustrated Story of Learning To Love Dementia (2022)

by Renée Brack

“I wish it had been around when my grandmother had dementia.”

Jane G. Thorpe, Cloudprint Group

“Very useful.”

Charles Waterstreet, Legal Consulting

A deeply personal glimpse inside a family that didn’t see it coming.
Told from my perspective as the only daughter, the book has anecdotes and insights of things I got wrong, things I got right and what I learned along the way. It showcases my dad’s artworks charting the change Alzheimer’s made to his style. He went from precise realist oils, to impressionist watercolours, to crayons on sketch paper. It’s a short read for all ages told with gentle humour.

AIM & PURPOSE

The book is designed to help people, families and new carers normalize and navigate the emotional roller-coaster that a dementia diagnosis can spark.
It’s not a medical book about dementia. It’s about feelings, fears and frustrations as well as joy, fun and precious moments spent time-travelling with a loved one as we share shifting realities.
Dementia is the same and different for each and all of us, just doing the best we can for people we love.
